My Goals for 2019

Wednesday, 2 January 2019

In my last post I spoke about the lessons that 2018 taught me and jumping from that, I thought I’d join the band of thousands of other posts sharing what goals I want to achieve in 2019. The list comprises of both blog-based aims and real life ones so you can see a little more into the other aspects of my life I don't always show on here. Some of these goals are more achievable than others, but what’s a goal if it isn’t at least a little challenging?

1.Graduate

Providing I get all my work in on time and it’s a good standard this one should be fairly easy, not a walk in the park, but attainable. Providing all essays and my dissertation go to plan I should hopefully graduate with the grades I want. Call me superstitious but I’m not comfortable with posting grades here for all to see so for now we will just leave it as a shiny certificate to collect come July.

2. Have more confidence

This year I want to make myself better, have a more positive attitude towards myself and how I feel in my own skin. I’m not aiming for a ‘new year, new me’ transformation but more of a feeling better as the person I am. I want to feel more comfortable and at ease with how I look, how I act, how I dress. This year is the year I feel proud of myself and any achievements I have. Reading back on old content, some posts I have on my laptop that I wrote back when I made a pact with two friends 3 years ago to set up a blog. I’ve fallen out of love with my content constantly, resulting in massive lulls in posting and I do think that’s partially due to a lack of confidence in my blogging abilities. That’s why this year is the year of self-confidence for me, in all aspects of life.

3. Become more environmentally aware

Living more ethically has been a hot topic in the blogging world and the real world in recent months and I’ve decided that 2019 is the year I truly try and reduce my environmental impact. I know I’m just one person and eating more vegetarian meals or sourcing clothing more ethically in the ways I spoken about in a previous post. I know it won’t make that much of a difference, but I believe a little does go a long way. Earlier this week I came across Abbey’s post on feeling guilty about how we negatively contribute to the environment which really inspired me with this goal. I shouldn’t feel guilty about the pollution I can’t help contributing, only proactive in the parts of my lifestyle I can change to improve the environment. I shouldn’t let what I can’t do stop what I can do to live a more ethical lifestyle.

4. Blog more consistently

Due to busyness and lack of confidence in this little page, I’ve had issues in the past with staying consistent with posting but 2019 is the year that stops. This year I’ve decided to focus on my blog and the content I create, pushing both quality and quantity to try and grow a following. I want a platform I can be proud of, that I enjoy creating and others enjoy reading. I want to have posts out every week, photography that continues to improve so people enjoy both the textual and visual aspects of my posts.

5. Grow my following

Springing off of my last goal, I want to improve my blog following and am hoping to do so with improving my content. I don’t just want people to visit my blog simply because I posted a link in a comment thread on twitter, but because they actually enjoy reading what I write and create. Improving my engagement on platforms too will hopefully help this since my number based goals for 2019 are to hopefully get 750 followers on Instagram and 1000 on twitter. These aren’t big goals by any standard but I’m hoping small will create bigger numbers since apart from graduation, this is one of my goals I am most nervous about.

That’s just some of my goals for 2019, just a few main ones regarding both life and blogging. Wishing you all a happy New Year, what are your goals heading into this year?
